Newfoundland is an island, but mainland Labrador borders this other province. QUEBEC 3 Herring, mackerel and cod are among the fish found in Newfoundland's Grand BANKS. 4. Newfoundland natives call their island the "ROCK". 5. St. John`s is situated on AVALON Peninsula, which is Newfoundland's most populated region. 6.
