Alberta is the center of Canada's OIL/GAS industry. 3 Established in 1885, BANFF was Canada's first national park. 4. Alberta's provincial flower is the WILD ROSE . 5. In 1988, this Alberta city hosted the first Winter Olympic Games held in Canada. CALGARY 6. The warm westerly CHINOOK winds lessen the severity of winter in Alberta. This Oscar-winning 2005 movie was shot in Alberta. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN 4. The Athabasca and the PEACE RIVER are the two longest rivers in Alberta. 5. ELK Island National Park is a renowned wildlife sanctuary just 28 miles from Edmonton. 12. The " HEAD-SMASHED-IN " Buffalo Jump is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
