Phoenix and its adjoining communities are nicknamed the VALLEY OF THE SUN . 3 Phoenix is named after a mythical BIRD . 4. The Heard Museum in central Phoenix specializes in NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE . 5. Phoenix SKY HARBOR International Airport is a major western hub. 6.
